Between September 2021 & October 2022, Shirethorn house was a meanwhile space in Hull, run by East Street Arts, in an old department store. It was my largest ever studio, will carpet tiles, and a reception and gallery. A small group of us started a weekly drawing session called draw jam, which led to a performance with Yol, another Hull artist, which combined drawing, noise and projections.

Yol and the DFT – Big Tescos
The performance took place on Humber Street pop up space. Esther Cawley and I made a series of quick, intuitive marks on paper and then Yol put them in a ‘score’ and then his performance (noise) responded them as he moved through them. While Yol was performing, Esther and I drew him. For me it was a very intense experience, as I was trying to find ways to make synaesthetic marks to draw what I was experiencing as well as seeing. I hope we can do this again some day.
